Turkey Trot 5K Run and 2 Mile Walk

Neighbors join together on Thanksgiving Day for a little pre-feast exercise starting at Droster Park.  We partner with Second Harvest Foodbank to help those in need so participants are asked to bring a shelf-stable food item or non-food consumable for donation on race day. Thank you to our outstanding volunteers who make the event possible!

Holiday in the Park – First Saturday in December

On the first Saturday of December, neighbors from Elvehjem and East Buckeye join together for a memorable evening celebrating the holiday season at Orlando Bell Park. Many people arrive early and anxiously await Santa’s exciting arrival on a fire truck from our very own Station 5. Santa visits with many adoring children while giving out gifts and lots of hugs. Meanwhile, neighbors enjoy rides on a beautiful horse drawn carriage provided by Rocking L Acres. The roaring bonfire keeps us warm as we chat with each other, sipping hot cocoa and munching homemade treats.

 Holiday Lights Contest

Neighbors celebrate the season by decorating their homes with lights and Holiday décor. In 2017 contestants submitted their addresses by email which were then posted on Facebook, everyone in the neighborhood was encouraged to check out the decorations in person then vote for their favorite online. Winners received gift certificates to local establishments and were featured on Facebook and in the February/March issue of the Echo Newsletter.
